Are there any places in iowa worth traveling to ride a few hours today. live in central iowa and will take around two hours to get to. thanks

We rode ditches all day yesterday here in NW Iowa. Just to give you an idea of what they were like we stuck many sleds and several were long tracks. We had a blast. Get on Hwy 3 and come west. This hwy is north of Storm Lake, Alta, Aurelia, and Cherokee area. I don't know how far east you are. But if really want to ride, the ditches along hwy 3 are in great shape. Just heading out there myself.

Just low snow condtions....we started at Sexton again today and continued to ride 20 miles west of Algona then turned around :div20:

that depends how hungry you are and how bad you want to make it to Racer's :beer: you can make it on good enough snow but it can get pretty rough, where they had groomed it is getting really low and torn up

We unloaded and rode a few miles west of Rockwell City (30 minutes West of Fort Dodge on Highway 20). Snow conditions were great in some spots, and marginal in a few. Overall we put on about 75 miles yesterday and had to quit because we were worn out. Sucks getting older. :drunk:

Me and a friend are heading that way tomorrow morning. Gotta drop the kid off at school and then I'm loading and on the way. I have GOT to get a little riding in before the end of January when I make my annual trip to northern MN. Got a new (to me) sled and need to dial it in a little bit. Hope the snow holds up for a few hours tomorrow morning over there.

I just saw the groomer heading east on 18 on my way to town an hour ago, so east is a little thin in some spots but should be smooth in most spots, if you go west it's really fun but very tiring because theres a lot of soft moguls, good if you find a rythem, shitty if you go too slow, but there is plenty of snow west of Algona on 18

right now there isn't much loop riding around here, you pretty much want to stay on 18 west of town, you can ride 169 a little ways i think but thats it, they have been grooming both sides of the road on 18 east of town for some reason, I noticed they had turned around at 140 Ave. east of town and were grooming the other side so maybe they were gonna go groom west of town

i still wonder what the ditches look like south of Hobarton to Whittemore??.... riding HWY 18 west out of Algona was pretty good yesterday .... i would drop your sleds north of Whittemore on HWY 18 ... there is a parking lot right on the NW corner of the intersection of Hwy 18 and county road 15 ... ride west from there ... when you get to Emmetsburg, the trail heads north right after the new casino .. follow the red line i have drawn on the map ... go past the college and get back on HWY18 heading west out of Emmetsburg ... the snow got much deeper that way ...

there is a gas station and a McDonalds on the corner of N48 and HWY 18 when you get into Emmetsburg ... go north directly from that gas station ...

EDIT: o ya by the way could you post a good trail map of Kossuth, you and Austin sounded like you had found a good one but I can't find anything
