While changing a couple heim joints on my F7 i'd like to tighten up the side to side movement in the steering post.
can this be done by changing the two pieces labled #7 in this diagram?

I just tightened up # 9 in that picture, and solved the slop in my steering post!

X2. You'll probably have to remove the gas tank to put new bushings in.

you don't need to take off the gas tank to replace #7 bushings, however try tighting up them if that doesn't stop the slop, the bushings are of 2 pieces, pull the motor side one off and hit the two ends on a belt sander or just sand lightly, this will bring down the circumfrence and thus make it tight against the steering post.
