I had a few studs rip out of track on zl 600 2001 and gouged heat exchanger in front of track and need to replace or repair it. How much work is it to get it out of the machine? How much do I need to remove to get to it?

When I did that I pulled the track, rear skid, and the driveshaft out and had the exchanger welded. You might be able to find someone who could do it with all of those things in, but it depends on where the hole is.

It should be weldable, if the exchanger is part of the bulkhead, like most, it is basically taking the whole sled apart.
From mutual experience, this happened to my ZR last year.

My buddy did a number on his front exchanger that you could look right thru between the carbs and see the track, our local race car garage had 2 happy customers.
