red mepps "willow leaf" spinner. i troll it from a kayak and let it get down a bit, and paddle to get the rod tip bouncing just that right speed. just fast enough to keep the blade spinning and get ready. i usually bring 2 since the pike bend the shit out of them. not 1 size like the picture but size 3.
I use mepps for bass. I catch pike on a jointed shad-Rapp also, like a size 3 I think.

Too Slow I've mapped out the rock piles on Bantam with the low rance. We troll those spots back and forth and have never been skunked.

Going out Friday probably late afternoon. We usually put in around 5 when the skiers are heading in for dinner.

Also the boat launch has a chain across the entrance (not the state side) not sure what the deal is there. I have the current Morris sticker on my truck. I don't like backing into that state launch its so freaking steep.

So the guys went fishing yesterday morning. Dad caught a couple pike, lost a big one right at the boat (along with my lure ?

Heading to the store to get some Rapalas.

Non resident fishing license was $68 holy cow (I paid for it, fathers day gift).

Big crowd here for the 4th. Pray for me lol
You could try some dare devil spoons or rebel crawfish....the nest raider crawfish works well for pike in bantam, or winchester lake. I know it works well for chain pickerel, already netted a couple over 5 lbs in east twin. Make sure to use a small wire leader with those...pike have nasty teeth.
What kind of boat do you fish with on East Twin?

Funny you mention mepps, i've had really good luck catching several kokanee salmon earlier in the season here at east twin on panther martin spinners, not to mention rainbows, and brookies. For some reason browns go after small brown trout rapala's when trolling than anything else tried. Only complaint here is after memorial day, all the yahoo's, and weekend warriors come out when its noon time. The lake gets so stirred up it sucks for any serious fishing. Can't wait till labor day when the circus leaves the lake nice and quiet again.

I want to add we use downriggers for the pike. 50-75' back, and a depth around 8-10 feet. The lure dives another 5' or so. Just around the big first turn by the cones on Bantam. Puts the lure down into the "holes" in the rock piles in that spot.

We could meet up and I'll show ya ?

Lol..i know your a good fisherman

:lol:with the down riggers. Never had to use them for pike even up north. We used those late in the season around august for walleyes in quebec. I haven't even played with my down riggers here for any trout even though some do use them here on the lake for browns.

We run 2 downriggers and a flat line usually.

2 ultralights and a 5' bass rod.

I've built 4 rods so far:

Ultra light, 5', 8' and a 9' salmon rod. All Fenwick blanks, Shimano reels with bait runners.

I've got another ultra set up for my 8 yr old granddaughter and we're going to build it together.

She picked out pink thread for her wraps lol

I'm low budget low tech when it comes to spinning rods and reels....its shimano or shakespeare combo's, any that are light to medium action 6'-7'. Same for my bait casting stuff. Never got serious about fly fishing although i've tried it. Its more about enticing a fish to strike than pulling one in. Hell i still use an old net from the late 60's.

straight shimano for me. took the grand kid last year to long lake boat launch to catch fish. almost always catch something there. we did , and even got to watch a pontoon boat being taken out of the lake. it slid back off the trailer and landed on the ramp. bad damage and gas smell. not good. real steep ramp like rodeo doesn't like. you should try a slimy hudson river ramp at low tide. better have 4x4 and good tires

Omg yes! I took the boat out by myself (no hubby) with a gf.

Had to put in at that awful vertical ramp. My foot was shaking on the gas pedal backing up.

It was all I could do to get my diesel out. Holy shit I kid you not. Did a burn out all the way up !!!!

Got applause from a couple bystanders ?

That same day the Evinrude decided to give me trouble. Not going out solo anytime soon lol

My ultra has a Shimano 1500, my 5' has a 2500, the 8' a 3500, forgot what's on my 9' rod. Pretty sure it's also Shimano.

My stuff is decades old.

When i put my boat in and took it out at the shore boat launches, i had to wait for high tide. You just couldn't do it otherwise.

Same here, but I constantly upgrade to newer reels similar to the 2500. Their some crazy jap shimano names and colors i don't keep track of...i've got older 2500's still in use. I usually take about a half dozen poles with me all dressed with my favorite lures so its easy to switch when i need to.

4 more days of hell
Last week as I was going to bed I came out to the LR to get my coctail and couldn't find it. Looked everywhere.

Mil comes walking out of the guestroom with the empty glass.

She takes the newspaper and does the crosswords etc without asking or letting us look at it first.

FIL was watching porn for Christ's sake when his wife was out. Jesus I was disgusted. I've got my granddaughters here during the day in the summer. 82 fucking years old watching this shit.

I put an end to that. They don't clean up after themselves, constantly bicker and fight with each other. Sit at the table waiting to be "waited" on.

NOT doing this ever again. I hate them both. And my one rule (no shoes in the house) well forget that. My cunt MIL has tracked so much shit in the house I have to clean almost every day.

All my husband can do is apologize. And he does occasionally help clean up.

I've got my loud mouth fat pig of a sister in law coming for 3 days tomorrow. Friday they all are supposed to be gone. Thank God.

Fat, loud, disgusting fucking people. No wonder my husband can't stand them.

I'm a nice person, and VERY patient. But I am done.

Rant over

Now I fully understand why no-one can stand my inlaws.

Now I've got my disgusting fat pig of a sister in law coming for 3 days also.

I regret this. Even me, patient kind me is at the end of my rope.

I feel so bad for my husband. No wonder he is so depressed around these people.

I mean my family is pretty awful too, but not like his side.

No manners. Total slobs. And the porn was the last straw.

My daughter is hosting the big cookout later today.

And I've packed some clothes and such and I'm going to a hotel until they leave.

Otherwise it'll get really bad here real quick.

But peace and quiet and room service is needed.

I told my husband he has to deal with them all. I am done.

Well, in the long run it builds character if anything else. Gotta envy you how you've put up with this that long. I can't even stand my brothers foul loud mouth wife for more than 5 minutes when she's around.
