How difficult is it to swap 01 bars for 02 bars? Seems pretty simple, is it? Are all the cables long enough? Thanks

You have to use a pivot adapter if you want the bars straight up like the 02. The 01 has a different angle on the post than the 02. The cables should be ok with the adapter and a 4" riser. Good luck.

i had an 11inch riser, i made my own pivot adaper that was 4 inches and the riser itself was 6.44 inches then a 1/2 inch spacer, the brake line was just long enough for that, but you will need the pivot adapter, the riser will not fit on your style steering post, the post on yours has a flat plate on the end of it and the 02-06 all have a pipe on the end that the riser clamps to. you can get the adapter from powermadd, or our of shadetree actually for half the price.

you will need the throttle block from an 02. because you wont be able to get the stock on because of the hooks on the new style bars.

you shouldnt be giving people false info, you can fit 01 controls on the firecat bars. they are a 2 piece design. 2000 and later had a one piece with a set screw.

I've got a new '02 steering post (pivot style) if anybody could use one to change over an older model.

Is that just a short piece of Handlebar? Or some other 7/8" piece of metal? Also, how long is it roughly?

I think I'll save myself the $50 for an adapter, and do what you did, then buy a longer riser.

Thank you very much for the idea! I don't think I'd have ever thought of it. :div20:

Will this post work on a 99 ZRT 600? If it will, how much do you want for it.

the 01 zr 440 post will fit in a 2000 and later zr for sure, im certain it will with a zrt also. the 02 has an entirely different design eliminating the bottom bushings and will not work. you will want to find a post from an 01 zr 440.

I did. I purchased 45 degree ones and then added handgrips that went over the hooks and bars.

I would have loved to put on a '02 setup, but decided to go a "cheaper" and less labor intensive way.
