I went to the watercross on Saturday and Sunday. It's about a hundred miles south of home, and not too bad of a drive. Met up with some folks who came all the way from New Hampshire to race. They brought a merchandise trailer (Sledfreaks) and out east, they do their tracks in a left turn configuration, so it took some adjusting to the midwest circuits that go to the right. They must have learned quick, because at the end on Sunday, many won and placed in several events. The number one guy in pro open from there, Tom Parolisi (978), won his first heat, blew out a stator on his second heat on Saturday, but came back with a vengance to claim his third heat first place finish. Chris Erzar (987) won everything he raced but the final race. His Shawn Zurn powered sled was clearly the one to beat for speed. He distanced the packs right away, David Fisher, the pro open winner, outlasted the competition for the World Championship. His stock sled actually was faster in the open mod drags than his mod sled Sunday morning. The east coast guys will be back!! HOT and sunny both days! I'll bet the guys (and gals) who dunked didn't mind cooling off in the water, but hated dropping out! Those retriever crews were very busy. Lots of very colourful sleds!
