Gmax helmets?

The last couple of years I have used a Polaris Cyclone helmet with an added heated shield. I love the looks of the helmet, however I realized after a few rides I should have gone a size larger. I basically get a headache from a pressure point on the front of my head, and find it very hard to get on/off. I've been doing some shopping around and was wondering what people think of the Gmax helmets? They seem decent but I have never used one or know anyone that has. Anyhow, I found my size in the GM64S Carbide model for $123 shipped, or $144 with electric shield included. They both seem like a big bang for your buck. I've never owned a modular design but think I would like the internal sun shield. Thoughts?

See if they sell a larger liner for your helmet. The same helmet itself usually covers a bunch of sizes, it's the liner and cheekpads that change the actual size.

I have a Gmax that was doing same thing to upper frt of my forehead.

Found that GMAX sells liners separately. Found a size larger for $16 and change (under $25 total shipped).Fits great now.

Oh, the Gmax's are okay. Nothing special. I have owned a few.

I have found the Gmax size chart measurements lean towards the tight end for helmet fit, so you should probably go up the next size. As the above poster stated, the helmet shell is the same regardless of size. Your proper fit can be made better by replacing it with different cheek pads and/or headliner. I have swapped out a few sizes to better fit other riders.

I haven't used the 64s but I and 2 others I ride with have been using the GM54S for years. Overall we have been pretty happy with them but two of us haven't been too happy about the drafts and forehead coldness when temps drop into single digits and below 0 F when riding fast trails even with vents closed and high quality head socks. We ended up taping up the vents from the inside and that improved them a lot. The 64S is re-designed and has less vents and supposedly addresses the issue so I would think it's much better in that regard. Really no complaints other than that. The flip down sunshade visor you mentioned seems to get iced up a lot unless you leave it down, but I've heard that complaint about lots of helmets with them. Sizing hasn't been an issue and we all wear the same size GMAX as we would with different helmets. I was impressed with the chin hinge compared to a BRP modular helmet which costs at least twice as much. It seems much more sturdy than the BRP which feels like it could break much easier in an accident. I would spend the extra money and go with the heated shield if you buy one.

i picked up the GMax 11S w/electric shield last year, i like it. only used it once so far so i don't have any long-term opinions on it but it was single digits both days i rode with it on and my head was warm and comfy

I use GMax helmets for dirt biking and they are great for that. But they do run small, so I use their sizing chart and then got one size larger than they recommend.

Last year I was torn between a new GMax or CKX for snowmobiling. I did my research and GMax has not quite figured out how to make a good sealing helmet for snowmobiling yet, so I went with CKX and have no regrets. This may not be applicable if you are using googles.

I use a gmax modular with sun shield and a scorpion full face non electric shield. My scorpion doubles as my motorcycle helmet as well. I've tried a HJC modular on motorcycle and it felt like I had a giant pumpkin on my head due to its oversized design to accommodate the hinge system, and it was super noisy. I've had other HjC full face helmets as well.

Bottom line on Gmax...it's a decent helmet. No issues with sealing or fogging. Rarely even use the heated sheilds. It has good ventilation. The flip hinge design is simple and work easily with gloves on. I added a Senate 10s communicator and it is now my go to snow Hemet.

My scorpion looks cooler...has irradescent skulls that you can barely see unless you look at them from the right angle.
