The arctic air does not look to last too long and by Thursday, the western ½ of the Midwest looks to be warming to above average, with the rest of the region to warm to above average by Friday. It is possible that much of the Midwest could even rise above the freezing mark by the end of next week, so I guess we all have something to hope for to change in the forecast!
The 11-16 day period does not look to encouraging. I can add that the signals are still somewhat mixed, with some models indicating well above average temps and little to no snow, but a bit of light rain possible. Other ideas are for above average temps, but perhaps still below freezing in the Northwoods and maybe a bit of light system snow in the Northwoods.
