You want some bottom end? Put in 19/43. That will give you nice take off but it will affect your top end a bit. If you put.......19/40 you top end will hardly effected is it even is affected at all but will give you nice holeshot. ALso something else to think about...put in a steeper helix with those gears and you will be flying from start to 100miles an hour!

I was told that if you didn't get a 100mph in 660' with a 20/39 to use a 19/39,but that's with reeds & ck and air intake...can't say for sure cause i never tried it with the 19/39,i think at 7700 with the 20/39 it's geared for 107,i would say that it would be quicker in a 1000' if you get good hookup off line, the best i seen was 97 in 660' and that's with the 20/39...later B)

Stock chain will work with the 19/43's not sure about the others. Just a guess that it will not work with the 19/39's and 19/40's. Probably going to need a 70 pitch chain for those

top gear teeth + bottom gear teeth / 2 + 40 = chain pitch
ex.- 19 + 39 = 58 / 2 = 29 + 40 = 69 (round up) = 70 pitch chain
FYI- used stock chain with 20/42 for the Big Horns on F7 SP

Anyone trail riding with taller gears -- like the much talked about 23:40 combo? Any comments or feedback? Thanks! -- Roy

23/40 Not Bad on the trails, just a touch poochy in the tight twisities. I went to 21/42 for trail riding as we have so much snow in Ontario on our lakes that there isn't really anywhere to wind out 23/40. 21/42 is a lot more fun.

Rev them up Ryan001 Is way off on his gearing by saying u will hardly change top end with 19/40 gears. 7750 RPM 19/43=92 mph 19/40 =99mph stock gears 22/41=112mph 19/39=101 mph

Byoffcr recommended 22-40 for me awhile back and I'm happy with this combo... could pull a little harder bottom end but doesn't spin as much as stock and pulls strong up top

Thanks Terry

19/43's are the way to go if you can hang on!! My sled giddy-up and goes like a bat out of hell. Granted it tops out at 96 mph, but who really cares about top speed anyway! Can you guys really tell the difference between 115 and 105 mph? They are both way too fast unless you are looking to kill yourself (look at crashedtoys.com for evidence of sleds that go too fast), unless of course you are drag racing and that is all you do. For trails and all around riding i like my sled to hit and hit HARD. 19/43's all the way.

Its tops out at 92.37 at 7750 rpm.. U should run out of gear in that distance..Plus its hard to get traction unless your on pure ice with ice picks.. Never work with trail studs in 660 ft.

I tried 20/39 yesterday in testing....i could not get it to go as fast as stock..this was in660...it felt like is pulling harder...looked it just could not get it to show on the stop watch.I have 153 trail stud's and i think that is the proplem..i could not get it to hook...if it was hard crusty snow i think it will make a big difference but yesterday the 20/39 were 3-4 tenth's slower then the stock in those condition's..but i really like the feel of the pull from those gear's.
