Anyone know anything about a fire at Gaylord Arctic Cat in Michigan? Another site I was just on said the service building was on fire and burning yesterday.
THATS WHERE MY FCAT WOULD HAVE BEEN IF I HAD TAKEN IT IN FOR UPDATES !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
There is no answer on the phone, and I am just curious how bad it was, as I was planing on getting the updates done there next week.

Thanks, good idea.
I just called the Sled Shed. They said there was a gas leak and a fireball explosion that went off in the service center. Sounds like they lost 12 sleds in the fire.
Man, I was suppose to have had my sled in there getting updates done, that would have really sucked.
Hopefully they can get up and running soon.

GAYLORD - Orange flames roared out of the front windows and white and black clouds of smoke billowed into the sky above the Gaylord Arctic Cat service and storage building on South Otsego Avenue just moments after an explosion rocked the inside of the building shortly after noon Tuesday.
The explosion and resulting fire gutted the structure located next to the main building of the Arctic Cat and Kawasaki dealership which was untouched by the fire.

Business owner Jeff Skerratt said after talking with his two employees they suspect fumes from spilled gasoline may have been ignited by the furnace. Skerratt employs five people in the two buildings he has leased for two years from Pro Source Rental. The burned building served as a storage space and mechanical area for the business.

"I'm just thankful the employees got out of there safely," said Skerratt. "I can always replace a machine. I can't replace people." Skerratt watched the scene unfold from his offices at Gaylord Ford across the street.

Two fire trucks from the Otsego County Fire Dept. were quickly dispatched to the scene and were able to keep the fire contained to the front half of the building a short time later.

Patrol cars from the Gaylord City Police and Otsego County Sheriff's Dept. directed lunch-hour traffic, limited to one lane, as fire crews fought the blaze for over an hour-and-a-half in temperatures which hovered in the single digits and a wind chill which made it seem even colder.

Otsego County EMS/Rescue trucks were also on the scene but fortunately were not needed. Two trucks from the Otsego Lake Township Fire Dept. were dispatched to the scene and members of the Charlton Township Fire Dept. in Johannesburg were reportedly on standby if needed.

From across the street, Geraldine Hogan watched from her front window as the scene played out. "We heard a big boom as though something exploded," she noted, glancing across the street at the billowing smoke still pouring from the ruins.

Instead of the usual fast-moving traffic heading northbound and southbound on South Otsego Avenue, Hogan said the vehicles had slowed to a crawl with one lane of South Otsego Avenue closed for the emergency response team. Because the wind was blowing to the north and toward the main Arctic Cat building, Hogan had worried the fire would spread. Watching on, she hadn't seen anyone leave the building.

Just a bit farther north on the main thoroughfare, Tonia Woodward, manager at Blockbuster Video, hadn't heard anything strange prior to seeing the dark black smoke pollute the sky.

"I saw the black smoke, and that's it," said Woodward, peering out the window of the store into the snowmobile store parking lot which was full of firefighters manning fire hoses fighting the blaze. The smell of the smoke, Woodward said, was overwhelming.

Auto Glass Specialists, neighboring on the south, was evacuated, and their telephone calls to the Gaylord store forwarded to the corporate office in Madison, Wis.

A call to Gaylord Arctic Cat owners was not returned by press time.

it is all a big scam. The owner burned it down for insurance purposes. I have heard about alot of corupt things going on there and I dont really care for them even though I bought my sled there. I dont think that I will buy my next sled from there unless it is under new ownership and management
