Would a stock f7 take a stock zr 900 in 660', what is the stock gearing for the 900? buddy just got a new zr 900 and the dealer told him that it would take the f7 out of the hole and keep going, did anyone race them yet.......Thanks <_<

All that I have heard from a lot of good drag racers is that stock for stock, the F7 is first to 1000' almost all of the time. Then the 900 starts to catch it, and will then pull by. Now, if you gear your F7 right, bye bye 900 all the way up! B)

They ran them here a couple a week's ago..
both stock no stud's racing 700 feet...the
f7 would take him out of the hole and win
by 3-5 length's...but the 900 is coming real
hard...propley take 900-1000 feet to catch
and go by...when it get's out front the f7 is done.

My buddy has a ZR 9 sno pro and his stock gearing was 26/41. We put 22/41 in and 20/39 in my F7 sno pro. We are real close on all but the longest runs then he starts to pull away very slowly.

FROM WHAT I AM HEARING THE F7 IS THE SLED TO HAVE IN SHORT DRAGS 660 FEET, ALSO FAST IN 1000 FEET. AFTER THAT THE ZR900 WILL TAKE IT. I TALKED TO GUYS RUNNING THE ZR900 AND THE SAY THE SAME THING. THIS IS NOT FROM EXPERIENCE BUT FROM WORD OF MOUTH. i ALMOST BOUGHT A ZR900 BUT GOT THE F7 INSTEAD...WHAT A GOOD CHOICE.

Highlander, I would recommend gearing to 23/40. It will gain you 6 plus mph in 1000FT with no loss in ET!

You do lose quite substansial et in 660 ft but not as the quarter draws near, it catches stock et with the 23/40 and then checks out as the run gets longer.

Thump, would you mind elaborating on this a bit? I'm sure that many of us here do most of our informal (and formal!) drag racing at distances LESS than 1000'. There's been some talk of "almost no loss of ET in a 1000" with the 23/40 vs the stock 22/41, but it sounds like there IS INDEED a loss of ET from those who have done testing with these combos. You say you lose "substantial" ET in 660'? Just exactly how much time, or how many sled lengths would you estimate? Is this from your own testing, from someone else's? If it was "only" 2 or 3 tenths slower in 660'... well, that's 2 or 3 sled lengths -- more than enough distance to qualify as "gettin' smoked" in my neck of the woods! Any additional details/feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! -- Roy

I ran a ZR 900 twin 2 separate times and was beaten by him both times. He pulled me right from the drop of the arm and I could not reel him in.

He was 1 sled length in front of me the whole time, in both races.

He was studded, I am not.

LOL.

Merry Christmas

look's like studdes are the answer, got my clutch kit today and air box mods & reeds so maybe i can give the 900 a run in 660', without the studdes, by the way the 900 is studded. B)

I do not have the numbers in front of me, but going from my head it was pretty close to 2 tenths in 660 and less than a tenth in 1000 and even or better at 1320, I think. If byoffcr is on here I know he has some hard numbers, I think he keeps better records than me  .Some say that is the sign of a better tuner. Most of our testing was done with various clutch kits and combo's. I'm not sure if Terry has done a stock vs stock with just gear changes. I will look throught the sheets and see what I can find.
