I will support Ryan here. I ran 280's in my 440 SnoPro 2002 at Searchmont Sno-X race temp 0-20 degrees....no problems Remember you are not running any long wide open stretches in SNo-X

I can trail ride my 02 440 with 280 jets. 34mm carbs.

The F5 has 38mm carbs. 280 jets for sno-x with race fuel might not be out of the question. Hold it open for a long stretch and she's toast.

Don't think the F5 will smoke the Rev. It sure won't smoke my 440. First hand.

That 440 sno pro can't be much faster than the F5. My buddies 440 sno pro will beat a ZR 600 up until about 75 mph then the 600 takes over. I know a F5 will beat a ZR 600. 440 sno pros are fast on the bottom and mid but don't start telling us how they can beat a production sled on the top end.

I don't want to start an argument here, but the 440 sp has more power and set up the SAME as the 500 will be quicker and faster. Not by much. Maybe not enough to argue about. I have my 440 set up now with 20-44 gears if I remember right and it will beat an F5 standard for about half mile on snow. Then the F5 goes by. If I put the stock gearing for the F5 in my sno pro it would run with the F5 on top end. Gearing and clutching are the key and the 440 has a touch more horsepower and probably more torque because of compression and timing. Now don't jump on my ass please!!!!!

It was pretty warm out and like snopro 440 said, you are not wide open for long stretches! That was on saturday. Sunday was cold and windy like crazy! I had to change it to 310's!!

Sled ran great all weekend though

That F 5 Could Smoke a 440 Rev! Yes, Properly clutched,Geared, Jetted. I have seen it before!
Most racers don't have a clue on how to setup a sled for Conditions. And as far as jetting go's I run 270s in 0-10 on the 440, EGT temps in the 8-9s with 110.
The new Cat~ set up right~ is a very strong Contender on the SnoX track. My kids Pro is always getting the hole shot and not by luck but by hard work before and after it hits the the race track! Hats off Ryan ! ;)

2002 ZR 440 Sno Pro 424 lbs (dry) 99 hp= 4.28 lb per hp
2003 Firecat F5 448 lbs (dry -I think) 105 hp = 4.26 lb per hp

almost identical power to weight ratio...now figure in rider weight....170 lbd feller on F5 and my large 225 on my pro, now who has advantage..all types of variables.... they both are very strong little sleds...

I tried 350 jets at -8C ouch almost blew a hole throught the piston in about 5 seconds. the 360's were much better. 280 jets maybe on my 440 fan.

hell yeah...i think any F5 would smoke any stock 440 anywhere on the ice on the trails in the track...my friend is supposed to be getting 03' edge 440 and alot of my friends put money that i would take him from start to end...even with his dragon button..I still cant believe what power my F5 has..if i put studs on it i'd bet anyone i could beat em..its alll stock.

Hmm, I think I said this before an F-5 TUNED right (carbs+clutches) and GEARD down to about the same ratio WILL perform with a 440 sno-pro. Like it was said there are allot of variables, rider weight, rider skill, snow conditions, ect. My daughters F-5 gets great hole shots, often beating 440 Pro-X's,600 Pro-X's,440 sno-pro's.

500' drag F-5 vs. '02 sno-pro 440 W/92 oct.Fuel

my moneys on her F-5 by two sled lengths :p

500' drag F-5 vs. '03 sno-pro 440 W/110 Fuel

my moneys on the sno-pro by a sled length :p

thats what our tests showed
