Exhaust Pipe Springs

Looking to see if anyone has any tricks for re-installing the exhaust pipe springs to the y-pipe. I had to take the y-pipe, exhaust and muffler off for an electric start install. Just getting the springs off was a pain, especially the lower one on the y-pipe. Just looking for potential tricks to help re-install. I normally use a shoe lace or exhaust tool but its so tight in there I am not sure either will work for reassembly.

I have a spring removal tool that's about 16" long and a little flexible. Problem is I can't remember where I got it and there's no name brand on it.

I just changed my gears today and resealed the pipe. Not the easiest job but the tool I have worked the best I tried so far.

Wish I know where I got to get another one.

I feel your pain for the y pipe with the spring on the bottom. Gonna take mine to the dealer and have them do it. Hopefully for free. I tried so many times that the spring got stretched out so I need a new spring as well...... [emoji35]

I just took the pipe off to install my bumper and seal up the y pipe. I took the silencer off and hooked the spring on the pipe first then used my spring tool to reach in from the right side to hook it to the y pipe. The harder spring for me was the one on the back side of the silencer.

I haven't messed with the y-pipe yet, but I did my exhaust can last weekend. There's an inside spring that's difficult to work with ... probably nowhere as near difficult as the one being described here. That said, I used a boot lace for that spring. If you can find a way to string the boot lace so it wraps around the frame, or any other structure, to help "guide" the spring ... it works.

I'd recommend buying a really long spring puller. I got the spring on with the one I have now but it isn't being pulled too tight. So I'll have to get a new spring if it makes a gap or falls off.. I will keep an eye on it through out the season. Hopefully I can make it till I get a new pipe.

New Polaris owner after years of SkiDoo. I used a piece of decent gauge quality wire that I fashioned a little noose on one end and the other wrapped around a small ratchet handle. Loop it and pull that bottom Axys exhaust manifold spring.. Found it easier to partially remove cowling around the steering post to get it out of the way for canister spring install.

hang the springs on the spring hooks of the y pipe before installing the pipe. then reach in after to grab just the unhooked en to hook it.
plus i made a custom spring puller a long time ago out of stainless rod. if you grind the end a cetain way it makes the puller much easier to remove from the spring.
