Exhaust Can

I know their are a thousand threads on Cans, but i just cant find one that will answer my question.

I had a Snowstuff Can on my last Iq Switchback and the motor popped 3 times due to what we think were all fuel related issues, I finally traded that iq off and got a 2014 Switchback 600, I want to put another can on this sled, but my father is steering me away from it, so what i'm wondering is, Does the Exhaust system harm the motor in any way? and how exactly it would hurt it! and if not, What exhausts would be good quality brand names that you would recommend. Not looking for a Full exhaust pipe just a can.

And i don't want to hear from all you that are gonna troll and say don't put a pipe on your sled! their too loud! Don't worry about what i do to my own sled! IF ITS TOO LOUD, YOUR TOO OLD!!! Hahah im just kidding! i know some just dont like thier sleds noisy! but worry about yourself! im just wondering if it is going to harm my motor by putting one on!

Can are notorious for causing engine seizures and blow ups!!!

Really, they are just noise makers... Some cause power losses, cause weird issues with newer sleds equipped with knock and egt sensors.
That said, I personally love loud sleds but on the race track only. enjoy....

"can" and "exhaust" are 2 very different animals. If you go with just a can, most will be a non-issue when it comes to performance or engine reliability. There are some that are just slapped together with no thought or real design behind them that can actually cause problems, but the top brands (GGB, SLP, Bikeman, Jaws, HPS, Skinz to name a few) are safe. I'm not going to get into my personal thoughts or experiences on the others not mentioned....:stirthepot: Just because it's loud, doesn't mean it's more powerful... remember, the more stickers the faster you are. :roflmao: Kind of the same concept when dealing with can's, none really provide more HP but they all are a big (huge) weight savings over stock.

A full fledged exhaust system will generally require clutching/fuel mods and if not done correctly can lead to engine failure.

My personal choice, and top seller of all time exhaust can's.... GGB!! For a full system, it's hard to beat the SLP, they really put a lot of research into making sure they put out quality pipes that perform better than stock and when tuned correctly can add considerable HP, safely.

I test everything real world. and guess what? not one can NONE have made any h.p. or made a sled faster.

pipes make h.p. cans are a muffler. mufflers don't.

same day same two sleds that were as dead even as possible. putting a bunch of different cans on one sled. that sled was slower every time. some by a lot.

yes a can, can cause motor issue's on newer sleds. some won't even run with them. anything monitoring ex. gas temp can have a issue changing anything on the ex. which in turn could cause the ecu to add fuel, subtract fuel, or retard the timing.

the weight savings does not lead to any performance gain. just a lighter wallet.
