Surfing a Yamaha user's forum I ran across this link regarding breaking in your new engine. http://www.mototuneusa.com/break_in_secrets.htm

Although it discusses 4 stroke mostly, it is applicable to all engines. I run a 115 Suzuki 4 stroke on my boat and the big discussion this year was how Yamaha 115's were making oil. The end solution was to take your motor and run it WOT for at least 1 1/2 hours to set the rings. Apparently cold engines and unset rings caused gas to accumulate in the engine oil thru ring bypass. The discussion on "the window of opportunity" intrigues me the most.

yes i saw that and i do have to agree the rings will never seat if you don't get the pressure to push them out in the first few miles
