I bought a brand new 2007 Arctic Cat - Crossfire 800. I took it up to Eagle River, Wisconsin last week. I weigh 190 Lbs. I put 500 miles on the sled. No Jumping, only trail riding. The tunnels not only creased but the metal actually ripped on both sides. I DID NOT RIDE THIS SLED HARD! TAKE MY WORD FOR IT, AND IF YOU DON'T WANT TO TAKE MY WORD FOR IT READ THE TWELVE OR MORE PAGES OF POSTS TITLED TUNNEL SUPPORTS. I was not too worried once I realized that this had happened. I figured it is a brand new sled and this is a known problem. I had seen the posts on hardcoresledder. I thought for sure with a brand new sled with a warranty this would be taken care of. I took my sled to the dealer, the dealer very kindly contacted Arctic Cat for me. Arctic Cat's response was "There is no way in hell we are doing anything for anyone with a bent tunnel, the only way you can bend a tunnel is if you are riding the sled too hard". I saw all the posts on hardcore sledder and thought that it would never happen to me. It did, and CAT will not help! For those considering to buy a Crossfire, I would highly recommend reconsidering. For anyone considering buying an Arctic Cat, I would highly recommend reconsidering. You may find yourself in a similar situation. Brand new $9000 sled that you took out for a first ride, and you have an engineering flaw that the manufacturer blames on you and a $1,500 bill. That is truely rediculous if you ask me.

If anyone has any suggestions for me or would like to take part in some type of class action lawsuit please let me know.

I will do anything in my power to get Cat back for this! I feel truely neglected, and ripped off!

Let's see some pics...[/b]
Thats what i asked for in another post

WE know its happened on the 06 Crossfires - I posted a thread that proves that - Hell Krom is an Arctic Cat tech and look at his sled
Krom did Cat stand behind that or what did you end up doing ??? New tunnel ???

This would be a first on the 07s

My only question is - If Cat knows about it from the 06 models and really thought it was a problem , wouldnt they have made changes to the 07 frames / tunnels ???

This is an interesting topic. I just don't understand how some people claim that their tunnel bent when they weren't riding hard, and others (like me) have ridden thousands of hard miles without a problem. If they were so weak that they bend from normal riding, then we should ALL have bent tunnels. It just doesn't make sense. :dunno:

I would have agreed with you up until a week ago when I washed my sled. I noticed a small ripple in the tunnel right where the sticker is on the right side by your feet. I ride fast, I jump and stuff, but I don't think I would consider myself hard on my machine in comparison to some people. I would assume I bent it from catching air? But I dont think I have ever been up more than 4 feet...maybe 5 feet off the ground..... I weight 230 all dressed up, is that enough to bend a tunnel? I Likely wont be going to cat about it, as I feel that I can just put supports on and cure the problem getting any worst, and Its a small ripple that is not noticeable without pointing out to someone. I'm not happy about it, but dont even want to bother trying to get it replaced under warrenty....what would be nice is cat saying there is a possible problem and give away supports to people. that would be nice.

After writing this last post, I sat here racking my brain to figure out where/when I could have bent the tunnel. One thing occurred to me... you know when you race someone in the field, at the stop, lots of time I put my feet at the very back of the tunnel and jump up and down to "set" the track down into the snow, I also then stand there for weight transfer when we launch. It occurred to me that with my weight and the transfer of power, this could have been a factor in the small ripple I have in the tunnel. I've also changed my mind, I will be going to the dealer and at the very least telling them it happened and that I am not happy about it. I will ask them if there is any word about a possible "preventative fix" like supports coming from CAT? I doubt it from the responses others have gotten from their dealers. I might be making a trip to the poo dealer and get a set of supports that seem to fit, and get them powder coated black.

edit: spelling

Measure the thickness of the tunnel in that area. Is your tunnel black or brushed aluminum? There are different thicknesses of tunnels.

I jumped my M6 over a 96 dodge ram and flat landed in a parking lot never tweeked my tunnel. I than smoked stums in the deep off loging roads and, I broke two driver bolts never tweeked my tunnel. I am in at $190#'s too.

All I can say is check how thick the aluminum is and get the spec from AC it may be a supliers problem. AC is getting tight and they should be on these sled porn wantabes that trash their sleds then want it warrentyed.

Hey i got a good idea, before somebody on here said, there is nothing different from 06 and 07 tunnel supports, to be honest, i would try to go somewhere else. also for a tunnel to fall right off both sides i would say ridding it to hard, those things are on there good. maybe you should of put on some supports. But im behind you that Arctic-cat should do something about it, that is not right.

I would see if ya can get the warrenty transferd and go somewhere else. I do something for ya. i got a dealer here in Wi called Kenssports. ill give them a call for you today to see what they say about it. i dont want ya to go away from cat. ill do w/e i can with the dealer today for ya. if they say they'll replace it are you up for it ???? oh yeah they know me, they should do something about it.

So your saying that if you have an early build versus late build versus aluminum tunnel versus black tunnel - They might be different thickness ???

And now we have guys complaining about 2007 models but no pictures yet

WE have two posts going on basically the same subject

I wrote this another post so i dont know , couldnt of hit any harder then this bottoming out

I dont know what to say

You have any pictures ???

I guess print out all 12 pages so far and bring to your dealer or contact Cat directly or

Anyways i watched a friend driving my sled this past weekend - I was behind him on his Rev

He hit something in the trail and the damn sled went straight up in the air - I thought for sure he was coming down on the taillight
Anyways he landed , and pulled over - I thought the worse when i pulled over

I have no idea how he hung on - After looking at the tunnel , everything looks ok
Only thing i can figure out is the track drivers hit first and then the front shock bottomed out

But like i said the tunnel survived - So i dont know

Was a low spot in the trail and then rock hard dirt high spot that he hit up in Tomahawk WI

So i want these supports

Will insurance cover a ruined tunnel ??? I dont want to find out

If these things kink or bend i will be one pissed off Cat owner as i mostly trail ride only with some off trail in the Fluff

I am not a ditchbanger or one for jumping

So far so good but after hearing your story makes me a little

I plan to either buy some or make my own. I shouldn't have to do that though. AC has a problem that they need to address. I have two ripped holes in my tunnel and a big bent crease on both sides of my brand new sled.

I feel bad for you, but I have 1200 + hard miles with no effects yet and I just love this X-fire!!

I guess I will look into putting braces on as well, but I can't imagine I will do anything to it that I haven't done already!
