Went riding this weekend in U.P. mich. 10 miles on sled to start
got another 10 out in the woods and chaincase started grinding
open the hood to find chaincase oil all over inner case
Took to dealer, this is the 4 th one he's seen do this .
:D sled great upto last minute.
can't wait to ride when fixed
P.S. he had the parts in stock no B.O. waiting for me! thank god!!!

Don't know yet,
Dealer said other 3 firecats had blown bearing in chaincase!
I suspect last minute change in change case after moving brake back up top!
Has anyone else had chaincase problems???

BILLSABER, DID YOU BY CHANCE CHECK YOUR CHAINCASE OIL LEVEL? MAYBE CAT FORGOT TO FILL? I HAVE SEEN IT BEFORE! <_<

My chain tenisoner bolt was cross threaded!!! And was way to tight!! Found this out when i changed tracks! Got new bolt all good now!

I think it was GLS that talked about this at the Cat school. He said that during their testing they saw some failures on the driveshaft bearing. I think the updated bearing is Part # 1602-051. Not sure if it will be a direct replacement for the F-Cat.

sorry dave cat, I will keep mine, broke in and runs like a raped ape.....

Does anyone know if they put out a service bulletin over the updated bearing?

dont get me wrong i have 63 miles on my sled with only minor problems, primarly i feel do to the pre-mix in the tank,(fouled plugs) and low oil light stuck on(no big deal)
but heres my problem!!!!!!!!
i will be in the u.p. (munising) on dec 19th with about 15 buddys,
im not sure what to expect on this trip?
5 of us have f7's, this a 7 hr drive for me
i dont want to spend my time in a lodge
trust me when i tell you i love cats, my finished basement is all cat posters and memrobilia
also garage with a.c. banners
just concerned with my new cat

I just started reading this post and I am still lmao at your "new Hood" fix, and I completely empathize with your justified paranoia! Good luck on your trip and just warm it up and ride it like you stole it.

im wondering if theres something up with my bearing when ever i break it squeeks bad i dont know if its the breaks or what anyone else have this problem???

Yes the oil was full, I checked it.
But i didn't check chain tension!
Didn't think i had to before first ride
