F-ing Dems are going to put the cabash to this. 220 miles of new trails in WI state forest now a no go after Walker gave the OK. Ebbers to Axe this :
A plan for the Northern Highlands-American Legion State Forest was the first step in an ongoing DNR effort to examine parks and forests for places where more trails can be opened to all-terrain vehicles as required by a 2015 law enacted by Gov. Scott Walker and the Legislature.

The effing potheads got off the couch to add their $.02 in an advisory pot referendum in the most populated WI counties , and oh, yea....they voted Dem while they were at it.

Was this a plan to basically fill in the giant hole that exists between Lake Tom, St. Germain, Sugar Camp and Rhinelander? Living in Rhinelander, I was curious as to why there was massive hole (compared to the density of trails in most places) straight to my north. The state forest trails just northeast of Lake Tomahawk have been some of my favorites.

So basically..... the trails we had when walker was in office were fine, but because we aren't getting even more trails, Evers is evil and hates snowmobiling and snowmobiling will end?

Shut the fuck up.

We have tons of trails. More would be awesome but this isn't a huge deal, and I haven't heard of trail passes going up, or registration, or anything else. You're being as dramatic as a 14 year old girl right now.

Cash that was by far the most dramatic post in this thread. I don't have anything to say about either guy but that forest is a huge void in the trail system.

on the bright side (if there is one) Wi. has 4x the trail miles we do in Michigan and our main association seems to be content with that. This is why they will not get me as a member

Do you have a link to the story?

Dramatic post on cash? Hahaa! I find it "dramatic" that Muskegocat calls out Dems in his title. All Dems are anti-snowmobile! Haahaa!

In all reality, the whole snowmobile crowd should be more concerned about losing trails vs gaining trails.
Any of you up to date on what is going on with Blue Mounds state park? Anyone read the latest AWSC March issue? The ruling of this Blue Mounds Master Plan affects all 71 state owned properties. If we lose, it gives them an opportunity to possibly get rid of all trails on those properties. It is affected by NR44, which might be in play with Northern Highlands-American Legion park. Not sure? I have not heard anything about it, and has not been mentioned by executive director yet.
I went to the initial planning phase at Mount Horeb last night. Snowmobilers had a great presence!
Link to survey: https://survey123.arcgis.com/share/a44b9cf3153842f287857cd98864cb16 This survey provides an opportunity to support a snowmobile connector trail from the Military Ridge State Trail to the regional trail network on private lands north of the park. Snowmobiles currently use the Mound Park Road right-of-way for this connection and we are asking for a safer, more enjoyable trail through the Park.
Comment through the survey will be accepted through March 26, 2019.

The Blue Mounds situation is much less about 2 miles of trail but more about the damaging precedent it could set for snowmobile access to state owned public property. It is a huge deal and future generations will feel the impact more than we will.

And yes, these silent sports groups are riding the democratic wave in the pursuit of their agendas and always have. If you want to support the democrats, that's your choice. But... no need for swearing and name calling unless that's all you got.

I was also was at the Blue mounds State park meeting and I believe I got a dog in the fight. I made my point by saying my family has 5000 acres on the Ice age trail open to all the tree huger's for snow shoeing X country skiing and hiking, so I asked them why would I keep my lands open to them if they will not share the land with the snowmobilers.

I said to the four old lady's now is that a fair trade you don't give the snowmobilers the 1.5 mile ish trail and then I reminded them you all willing to giving up 5000 acres for 1700ish acres.

The land belongs to everyone IMO not just one group of people.

So how was this not worthy of outrage during Walker's tenure?

I fail to see how someone who's been in office less than 6 months could be having such a huge impact on all these decisions....

I don't support either party becasue they're both run by corporate interest groups, NOT working for the people, so I enjoy pointing out the hypocrisy and flawed logic from anyone who claims 'the other side' is stupid.

I'm still shocked so many roads opened up to quads the last few years. It was a game changer. We ride all the time without getting dirty.

take the property out of M.U.F., kick the tree huggers off and pay the tax difference. then show em who's boss.

All democrats may not all be anti snowmobile just like they may not all be anti gun or anti life, but their leadership and the direction of the party is radically to the left. The moderates are under pressure from the likes of the Alexandria Ocasio Cortez and Ihlan Omar. Make no mistake the moderate democrats (if there is such a thing) will be under tremendous pressure from their party to support the Green (which is really a socialist or communist) agenda. They are not our friends.
