I got my first DD 04 900 and was wondering what is every body doing to them to stay out of trouble, like summer storage, during winter etc. This one is new, I heard someone say they have alot of shavings for a while, what needs done to them? Thanks

pull it out of the sled, take it apart, clean it, fill it and put it back together (wouldnt hurt to put new seals in too)

Draining it ,and filling it back up isn't enough???? I dont want any problems, but pulling it out seems like a huge pain in the ass!!!!
Do you need to pull the secondary clutch off to remove the D/D??/Looks like it!!!

What does anybody else do? I know if you don't get the big nut on that side all the way turned to lock the pins back onto the dd output the thing will self destruct. I would hate to have to pull it apart every year if I don't have to.

I pulled mine off and took it apart. Took about 30 minute. You have to remove the secondary and the bolt (NOT THE NUT) on the brake side. Pull out the rubber snubber and unbolt.

Way easier to change the oil. Good time to inspect. Regrease bearings and such.

Yes, they changed it to a bolt on the fire cat , zr 900 is more complicated then that. I can see your point as far as taking it to have a looksy, but I don't want to have to go through that if it is not needed. Do you find it pretty tough to get it back on straight? If not what is your secret? :beerchug:
