Has anyone run the 870 motor on their 800's? This is the kit that uses the factory cast 900 pistons! I'm oh so close to going after this but I wanted opinions on it first! I just recently sold my SimonsCPR 925 to buy a T-Cat but found another 800 twin and I went after it! The kit includes cyls, heads, power valves, Monster Single, clutching, and crank weld for $1850.00! I think this is really reasonable!

A good friend of mine has this kit in an 01 zr800 and it works very well. He runs D&D twins with it and lots of compression and is a hard one to beat on the lake. Lots of fun and trail reliable. His motor is 3yrs old and is running strong. Only problem he ever had was unrelated to the kit, ( reed block screw went thru the motor. Opps, Delta II's).

They rate their 900 twins at 170hp with reeds, seems like it would be cheaper to get a set of 900 cylinders and stock cast pistons. There are some for sale if you look.

Might be able to save a hundered bucks or so. How much are cylinders, pistons, and valves used? $600.00? Then have someone port them, $500 Bucks. Reeds, Pipe, clutching and crank weld will put me around $800 or $900! I'm not really seeing the savings. Also, I won't have any leg work. Send D&D my shit and they send me my kit. Pretty simple I think!

In case you did'nt know, that kit does'nt come with pipes reeds or clutching. I put my 800 to a 900 for about $400 for the cylinders heads and valves and I don't need to port them to get that kind of power. I just like sticking with AC pistons. Just my .02. :beerchug:

I understand what you're saying. For 1800 bucks I will have a crank weld, v-force, bore kit, twin pipes, clutching, and airbox mod.

What have you done to gather another 20 horse from factory? Just D&D's twin pipes and key? I'm very interested in how to save money!! Thanks....

edit: my pricing was wrong, $1850 for everything with a monster single. I have seen a set of used twins for the price of a new monster single.
