which sled will go better in deep snow? A crossfire 7 or a 04 firecat F7 EXT with 144"X1.25 lugs. Looks like a toss-up :dunno:

And the crossfire has a better belly for floating through the pow.

Lots of things you can factor in though too. From other posts you talk of studding, that'l take away pow-pow ability. If you clutch it and mod it a little, you might get some of that back, you might know. Many factors you can consider. What if you just clutch it??? Just stud it??? NOS???

Either way, I think the X-Fire might be better, but it still sounds like your concerned of getting you ass handed to you by someone on an F? or F? EXT... :frech11:

you're right racinfarmer, but i wont be seeing that much powder(maine) so i will put studs on. My dad has an 04 F7 EXT and my neighbors have 2 04 F6 EFI's (one studded and one not, but with a clutch). So thats my primary competition, but im sure i will race some people on the trail, drag or running start.

I havn't ridden a Xfire but I can tell you my F7 doesn't do very well in deep pow (seems to trench)...... I would think the 15 inch wide track would do better then the 13.5 inch on the F7ext.

just my .05c

I have a Sabercat 700 EXT, it works well in the deep snow. However just plain physics will tell you short and wide (136X15) will float better than the long and narrow (144X13.5). The X-Fire should be a little better, but it won't compare to a say a Switchback with a 144X15.
