Looking to do a week in the County soon for a combo ice fish and mostly riding show. I'm thinking of Long Lake or Eagle to base out of. Has anybody fished Long or Eagle that could recommend decent spots to fish? It's a given to look for the ice shacks. Hoping Hcat or someone might chime in.
Long is pretty slow and steady out in front of Sportsman Club. On Eagle i'm told that the fishing is good over by the thoroughfare inlet from Square and you can catch brookies or togue in shallow water chasing big smelt. if you don't want to go that far over ice you could fish by the inlet from St Froid. The slush is patchy and shouldn't sink your sled if you keep moving. it should be better in AM after a cold night. could be a good idea to send a rider to scout for slush in front of your sled that is towing gear. or just go to the shanties. have fun.
HCat, Thank you. I knew I could get good intell from you. Greatly appreciated.
