Looking for opinions on primary and secondary springs for the MY22 850 XCR. The sled is out of breakin mode and currently has slp magnum adjustables in it. What is everyone liking for spring and weights setup. I'm not interested in a helix or gearing change right now.

I have noticed
lots of coil binding in my primary with original spring chewing in strider side
I’ve also noticed a lot of binding/rubbing with the stock almond/gold spring. Had the cover off while I was throwing 10-74’s in and it was rubbing the spider pretty good. (Also wearing into the cover and cup in the spider).
still turning 8200 in all conditions with 74g. Might try 76’s if we get more snow..

Have a Venom 140/220 on the bench waiting to go in also

Slp blue/silver 140/300 primary spring with one Delrin washer.
venom black/green in the secondary with roller bearing. Running 10-74s for now. Pulls hard.
I have a new Polaris blue spring (120-300), would that be close to the SLP spring? I know it would be lower engagement, but has same spring rate as the stock almond/gold. Was going to use it along with the Venom blk/gr secondary and 10-74 weights.

As others mentioned, a Venom (140-220) black/green secondary spring with roller bearing shim, or a Speedwerx (155/222) red secondary spring.

EPI 74g belly buster weights (0-3000ft) with a Speedwerx (122-285) green/yellow or (148-290) green/white primary spring with a delrin washer against the clutch spider. The Venom (120-310) white primary spring is a good option as well but you may need to run slightly heavier weights.

Is there a difference between speedwerx 155 222 and teams 155 222. Difference in length.

Been following this thread for a bit. I don't have a Matrix but have a 19 Assault 850. I assume this would still apply to that sled?
Couple questions:
What is the 850 ideal rpm on top?
Do the derlin washers effect rpm and buy how much?

I ran mine wide open on a hard packed lake last weekend and was disappointed in top end speed. Only saw 100-102 and was pulling 8050 give or take. I do have a studded 1.6 so obviously not a top end track. I just figured I'd see 108-110 with this 850. A 1200 doo was right there with me. Hell my old Suzuki's 800's would walk this 850. Just had it at dealer and they said compression was 140lbs a side which apparently is at the top of the range. Sled pulls hard but was expecting more.

Not sure if clutching will help or limited by track and gearing. I do have a new 1" sitting here I may swap over summer.

Thoughts??

102 out of the gearing for a 2" track SBA is pretty good. Acceleration from 0-100 is crazy with those sleds. They are no joke. I'm just going by what I've seen of them, I was out with a guy on a 19 SBA all day today. His is a 144 with 1.75" track and I can't touch him to 80mph unless I get perfect traction. I pull by at that point, but mine is geared for it. Just my opinion, but if you want more top speed, you will need the right track and gears.

The delrin washers in the secondary let the spring turn without binding in the spring cup, or having the cup bind against the moveable sheave half. The inner sheave twists relative to the outer, and if the spring binds it causes less than ideal backshift and may not shift out all the way for top speed. A bearing under the spring cup is better apparently, and I have one coming to try it out.

1.6 track is a 1.86 ratio is 95 mph @ 8250 1.1 ratio. with over drive 102-103 is all it will have. now you can go 1.81 ratio tops. it will struggle just a bit in deep snow. it's good for 3 miles per hour more. so if you turn lower rpm's then it will be slower then that. he's the issue with the 850. the peak h.p. is 8150 rpm. peak torque 8000. you want it clutched closer to 8000 then as pipe heat builds it will climb up a bit. now the 800 likes 8350 as the sweet spot. more rpm = more speed. if you have the power to pull it? now if i was running hard packed or ice all the time you can gear that 1.6 even higher. even 1.74 ratio. 102 @ 8250 add 9-10% over drive and 112 mph can be had. but it will really build clutch heat and any amount of snow. if you want to go fast the 1.6 is not the track for that. 1" track geared high will get you into the 110-115 mph gps radar etc.

You have me sold. There is alot of spring pressure on the bearing, but the aluminum must be hard enough to handle the pressure spread out over that many rollers. I will try it.
I think I'm going to set up one clutch totally stock (plus bearing), and the other with a helix that will work with the black/green spring.

I have 300 miles with the bearing no washers. Checked and everything is fine. With the subtle changes in clutching sled shifts way smooth and consistent. It’s a keeper.
