Does it prevent the pipe from cracking?

it keeps more heat in the pipe than the heat sheild would do. It also makes it quiter. A little more power.

Keeps the under hood temps lower too. All the heat stays in the pipe and out. If you want to get caried away with it you can do the head, top of the pistons, and exe. ports....pipe all the way out. Some is as good to take 2000*F where the piston would have melded down at 1450*F.
