Anyone have any experience with bypassing the governor on a mini sled Prox 120

What extra speed can you expect to see?  :dunno:

Stock they only do 8 mph.

Thanks

I am guessing the 120 pro x is a Polaris? If so, you should change the gearing to load the motor or you risk dropping a valve. I by-passed and changed gears and sled runs about 16 mph. I also designed an inexpensive functional rear suspension upgrade (02 Polaris 120) that works (vs the Shock-it suspension that doesn't). Without the suspension upgrade my son was bouncing baddly at the higher speed. Now that I found this forum I should post pics and info on suspension.

I've heard that with those bypass kits that it will make the plastic gov gear in the engine come apart.

I was told to take the plastic gear out of the engine and I will have no worries. The guy who told me this races them, and has had great luck without the gear in.

If you think about it, it's logical. That little plastic gear is being forced one way by the spring, and the little fly weights are forcing it another way.

I know that is what is in the cat setup, I haven't had any of the other engines apart.

Install RECMOTORS powerintake kit last year to xc120, really made a difference. Only problem it created was a higher idle which engaged the stock clutch at idle. Just changed the clutch gears & chain 15 tooth on hub; 54 tooth gear; #35 chain. Engages now when touching throttle only will test for speed tomorrow...

What kind of results did you get out of the 15/54 setup? Also is that the 'Gripster' clutch?
