hey guys,

i'm in the process of fixing my old elan right now. yesterday i broke the drive chain. i had the rubber/plastic plugs out of the cover but still couldn't see how to get that cover off. is there bolts, straps other? theres some sort of strap going around the front, but i can't see how to take it off.

I don't think it comes apart.
One piece.
The "strapping" holds the case to the frame.
You need to get the chain over the top sprocket, then over the bottom sprocket, then slide the driveshaft into the bottom sprocket.
I fould it easiest to do most of the work with the sled on it's side.

Make sure the fuel tank is empty to avoid leakage...
