I am in the process of buying a 2004 pro-x 440 roller chassis.
How hard is it and what are the tricks for fitting the 10 gallon tank.
I thought there was some interference with the steering hoop????
Any other things that I have to look out for??
thanks

The tank doesn't fit under the steering hoop so you have to butt it right up against it. You'll have to push back the seat an inch or two to fit in the tank. No big deal, just the flare on the sides of big tank stick out. You'll have to make a bracket for the front of the tank or there is a guy on Snowest that makes them.

Could you modify the steering hoop a little bit so the tank would fit under it??
I have friends with a fab shop so it could be done.
I just dont want to be 2" further back if I dont have to be.
thanks

I've heard of a couple other options. First, you could move the steering hoop to the other side of the foot rest, they are already notched for it. It would butt up right next to the chaincase. But I think that would require a lot of work, drilling new holes, cutting the hood more, so on. Second, there is a shop on Snowest you can send your steering hoop into and they will modify it to fit the big tank for 100 bucks. I guess if you have access to a fab shop you could do it. But it would be a lot of work I think. The tank doesn't even come close to fitting under the steering hoop, so it would a require a bunch of cutting and welding. Honestly moving it back an inch or so isn't that bad. I only got to ride mine a couple times and didn't seem that bad, i'm 6'1. Plus it's a PRO XR, you won't be sitting much...

if you just move it back, how does it attach to the frame? Do you have to buy this special bracket?

I know it is a proxr but the reality is that you do sit a fair amount of time when trail riding. I dont want to have to move the seat back if I dont have too being that the steering is so far ahead as it is.
Does anyone know the persons name on snowest or should I just do a search??
thanks guys

kosledwerks is the guy on Snowest selling the brackets and kpperformanceproducts is guying modifing the steering post. I have messaged both of them this week and still haven't heard from them. I need a bracket or a new steering post for my big tank also. Let me know what you figure out too.

Kneedeep- yes you need the bracket to attach the tank to the frame.

Sr_Erick- Yes i've seen your sled, very nice sled, a lot like mine. I followed your build up, thats how I feel in love with the Pro XR and just had to have one. Converting the steering post as you did is a lot of work and I actually the steering setup on the Pro XR

i believe Polaris sells a big tank kit for that chassis. runs about $180 and comes with a new post loop, tank shroud and top tank bracket. no need to move rear tank bracket and seat. i'll do some checking and see if they are still available.

if anyone has the aftermarket or oem bracket, please post some pics. I have access to a fab shop and will build it. I have called the guys on snowest and they won't return my call. They are not interested in sellling this bracket.

I can have them made and will sell for peanuts to help out fellow sledders but I need pics. I will build one for my sled and post pics but I need something to work with.
