I did some searching on HCS and didn't find anything on a "must have" battery and if there's something better than the Polaris OEM one. I'm reaching out to find out if anyone has a strong recommendation for a replacement battery. It seems that Lithium isn't really a good option? I've heard they don't work well when it's really cold and the price doesn't fall in the "value" category. I'm open for a battery that will last, has good starting in the below zero weather and less expensive than the OEM. TIA

I get replacement batteries from Batteries Plus. They put a 2 year full replacement warranty on their batteries. Batteries often fail before the 2 year warranty period and I get a free replacement. This seems to happen whether I buy the name brand or off brand batteries. I do keep a maintainer on the batteries in the off season.

Maintainers pay for themselves very quick.
Have a Sportsman that used to eat a good Interstate AGM battery at least once a year plowing snow, farming, pulling dead vehicles around until I started putting on a maintainer. Battery now on third year.
Our 16 ProX has been on maintainer since new with orig owner and now us. Battery will be used again this season.
I started using maintainers on my cars that go into storage every winter and haven't changed a battery yet.

Maintainers are worth it

Factory Polaris battery is a Yuasa. Simply go online or your local dealer and get the exact battery model number listed on it. I did last year and saved $50 because it didn't say Polaris on it. One year warranty with Yuasa. Years ago I bought a MotoBatt and it had a 2 year warranty for the same price, but the factory Poo battery hold down did not work the same so I had to modify it.

Have a Noco Lithium in my Assault since new. It has only been on the charger once. It seems to go into a sleep mode when not used frequently because it never goes below 12.1 volts. They do state that it's usable to -20C, and they are correct about that, two times my sled had been out overnight and temps got to -25C and the battery would not turn the engine over. Surprisingly the 850 are easy enough to pull start, and within 3 pulls sled was running. After that initial manual start up first thing in the morning, the battery started the sled the rest of the day.

I have pulled a lot of Polaris Batteriers to replace and they say Polaris YUASA which are very good batteries. I have been saving money and replacing with Firepower batteries which also have been working great for use. I have a 12V Firepower Feather lite Lithum in my sled which is only about 3-4" and featherlight. I don't have E start but use it with my power up kit to keep my PIDD runing after I shut my sled off. Works great and have been using for years.
