The best studs and backers I have found are Fast Trac and plastic backers square the reason why is that woodys I have had in the past break off the Fast-Trac hardly look worn I have had them on 2 sleds with over 3000 miles on them the plastic sqaurebackers are thicker then aluminum ones and are about the same weight. the thickness supports the stud a little more and stops leverage on longer studs from pulling threw and breaking off round ones work good too but cant go wrong with plastic backers dont buy snostuff plastic backers they stip out and use a taller nut since your probly have a sno pro track 3/8 of the studs over the lug is all you need other wise they ride just on the stud and wear out

for the 1 3/8" track on your SP - You need to go with a 1.45 or 1.50 stud.

Many people like the Woody's Megabite 1.45 stud and most use the 153 count/patterm with a mix of single and double backers for typical trail use. Personally, I went with 136 of the Woody's with studboy power plate backers which are a good compromise between the round and square design.

You might want to look into getting the new, longer style locknuts for the longer studs. I bent and broke a couple over the last couple of seasons but no pullouts.

There is no single best stud or backer combo in my opinion. Ask 20 different people and you'll likely get 10 complete different responses.

here's what mine looked like as I was putting the studs in...

The type of stud is up to you. We put 204 1.675 stud boy power points with all double backers & tall nuts on my brothers 04 sno pro. This sled is the hardest hooking firecat I have seen ( with trail studs ) , and combined with the 1.375 track it hooks up good on pretty much any surface. The sled is ridden how you'd expect a sno pro to be ridden with no tunnel clearance problems. I know there are alot of opinions on studding but H.P. dont mean anything if you cant get it to the ground.

Oh yea, I think the machined aluminum backer washers are the toughest out there. :beerchug:

mega bites suck!!! a bunch of us guys got rhem this year and like 20 of mien broke off, and then the others bent. I dont know why everyone things they are soooooooo good because they are not they suck! the best studs i have ever had are saber traction warthog xzp's they are awesome studs and not one broke!! a few bent but no broken ones. dont go with plastic backers those suck too, yes they provide more hight, but they have a lot more give to them so it isnt doing you any good. aluminum is the way to go they dont have any give to them at all.
