Back into my 2000 rmk 700 with my other sled and bent it pretty good. Is there any chance of straightening this out? I’m getting it ready to sell, and it’s the only thing wrong. Has an almost new Boss seat, low miles, and the motor fires up first or second pull, no problem. If it’s not fixable, how much do you think it’s worth with 2670 miles on it?
Straighten it out with a hammer, screwdriver , 2x4 or whatever it takes. You might be surprised how easy it comes back into shape. It will not be perfect but you should be able to get it close enough to get the hood to close. The sled is 22 years old, shouldn't effect its value much. Anyone buying something that old is probably going to use it for fishing anyway.
You'll likely need to replace the pans rail if it can't be made to go back in shape, but a good heat gun while moving it around will straighten the thermoplastic belly pan as good as new.
bent to far to straighten. the alum. will break. the belly pan can be heated like said. if any crease it has to be replaced. a slight bend without a crease can be straightened.
definitely an easy repair but like said earlier will not be 100% - If not comfortable doing it yourself stop around a local auto body shop and pay a tech a few bucks - likely take about 0.5 to make look nice - heating the alluminum up before working the material helps a lot.
