Working on the sled this weekend and put a new belt on the beast. Took a 031 off and put the new one on. Was looking at it and noticed it was a 036. Is this right. I am getting pissed because this is the third different # belt I have run on that sled. My 031 would squeal on take off. What is the 036 going to do. I have two thick scims and one thin on. Any ideas. Did the dealership give me the wrong belt????

I hear ya, there are so many belt compounds and sizes, I still can't get a firm answer as to what I should be using on my 2003 F5

The 020 Belt will work on your Firecat. It came standard on the 03 F series. Then in 04 they switched to an 031 which is a kevlar belt. Now keeping with the Chaincase models they switched to an 035 on the Sabercat 700. This is the closest replacement to the 020 i seen as far as put on and forget about it. I'm not exactly sure as to the reasons behind it ( be it compound or angle on the side) but the 031 tended to need run in before you actually found the true deflection more so than the 020 or 035. As far as to why you might be tearing apart belts running the 020, it could be heat related ( small hood openings in a small package) or an out of alignment issue. I know heat can do it when i watched 2 sleds running in identical conditions. One was eating belts like crazy ( 3 in one day) and the other didn't even make a squeak. Heat plays such a role in how a belt performs and lasts.

Trailing I had no issue with the .020 but full blasts down the lake it was a
mess of rubber everywhere . Bent belt gaurds ,ripped wires off and my
C.C was perfect. So no more .020`s this year..............

So do you know what number the belt is? When i go to get mine in a few days i am going to ask them about this belt. I will check the number of the belt on the sled too.

I know a lot about clutching and have ran 020 on my t-cat for years also, but on my F-cat is breakes them right in half at 100 mph. ( big mess, belt guards, oil line, spedo sensor etc...) I had a properly broke in 020 explode on the first 100 mph pas it ever made.....that was the last 020 that will ever be on my sled! I then cleaned it up and threw on a 035 and ran 100+ all dam day with no problems.
