My buddy Tom had a 340 Colt and a 250 Colt. They were both "slugs" compared to the 76 Mercury Twister 340 I had.

I saw a similar 340 colt under a quonset hut back in the 90's and it did not look nearly as good. We ask the owner if he'd sell it. For some odd reason the answer was never. He died some years back, and the sled along with the rest of his junk just disappeared one day.

Wow, clean sled! It definitely brings me back. First sled I rode was a '76 colt 250ss that my dad bought for cheap. The belly pan was dented to beat hell and didn't have a windshield. My pops, being the mechanic he was had a need for more speed. He scored some 340 heads and turned it into a 295. She had some pretty good grunt from 0-50. It didn't have a speedo, but I'm guessing 55-60 was tops.

Nice sled. They were over achievers in their day. They could climb, go through deep snow and in general out performed a lot of bigger sleds. Looks super clean? It’s a keeper for sure.
