SV,
I did the pistons on my 97 mxz670. I sent them to Swain in NY and it cost about $75.00. They were very nice to deal with and sent the pistons back right away. They said detonation was about 1400 degrees. On my egt I never got that high but was very happy to know I had the added protection. I would do it again if I had to redo a top end.
just running any pipes especially twin pipes on EFI is very risky..they just run way too lean..even if U run with ethenol setting to richin it up...I have talk to a few company techs that make pipes at shows..was told running a single pipe is safer but the performance gains are minimal..still have to run with wire plugged in as if U were running ethenol... seen one booth at show where guy had a dial-a-jet system hooked up to the EFI to push more fuel threw..they do selll chip & pipe kits...that would be the safest way to go...oh well good luck...
this is a chip and pipe set up from D+D for the 99zr600efi
D and d has a skirt coat and a top gold coat that I have used for 3 years on my 720's pistons. Never smoked one yet knock on wood. I would recomend the coating.
SWAIN TECH COATING IS THE WAY TO GO, ESPECIALLY WHEN USING THE PIPE-CHIP FROM D AND D. I BURNT DOWN TWICE BEFORE I COATED THE PISTONS. SINCE THEN HAVE NO PROBLEMS. QUALITY OF GAS IS ALWAYS A PROBLEM WITH TWO-STROKES AND THE COATING PROTECTS THE WEAKEST LINK IN THE SYSTEM-THE SOFT ALUMN PISTONS.
