Adding 96, 1.375 studs/double backers up the middle to my 1.325 Cobra track.. Read conflicting reports on whether I need tunnel protectors? Second question, what hyfax profile works best in place of the factory protectors? I have some hyfax from a 2003 Edge laying around so I slide them on just to check, and they slide right on but are a little loose. I know I gotta drill a hole sideways and run a bolt through them to secure them. If they are needed I will by new, I would just like to get the best fitting ones.
Thanks..

If running studs only up the middle, I wouldn't worry about it. Install a doubled up piece of hyfax at the rear of the tunnel only. About 12 inches long. This protects the crossover tube.

Added the studs and backers. No full length protectors. I just did the double hyfax thing for the last foot . I had some old ones laying around that worked.
