This is how SNOW800 does his and it looks to be a great method if you want to take the exhaust apart.

Pull off the Y pipe, take the cover off the servo motor, manually twist the motor all the way to the wide open position. Stick your finger in the exhaust port and keep loosing the cable until the valve is still all the way open, but you can move it slightly. Then you want to tighten it back up until you can't move it any more, then lock the jam nut down.
Repeat for the other side.

I didn't take my exhaust apart so I went to my manual and tried to set the cables by the book. The manual looks to have a misprint in it because I couldn't get close to the dimentions in the book without running out of threads on my cables. I posted this problem on Arctic Chat and as you can see by my attached thread, 1.51" was the number that everyone is using. I set mine to this and so far it has worked great. Snow 800 also post a page on my arcticchat tread from the manual on adjusting these. Good Luck and hope this was a help. (HAVE YOU SHIMMED THEM YET?) If not, see my other post on shims and order them from Fastzilla soon. He is about out. I also posted the link for those.
