Check all of the grounding straps from the engine to the chasis. Then move on to inspecting the main wire harness comming out of the engine. Make sure all connectore are dry and have a good connection. Check, and replace the plug wire caps.
Then pull out the Ohm meter test the Coil, Stator. If you don't have one then head to radio shack. The have ones in all price ranges.
Next go to a dealer and at least pick up the performance manual. It will list the resistance specs.
