.405 Torsion Springs on 2015 Indy 600 SP? .359 spring and still over 4" on new sled.

I just purchased a new 2015 Indy SP 600 that has less than a mile on it. I am trying to get it ready for winter time and the stock springs were way to soft when I got it home. I did purchase a set of .359 springs, installed and turned to high and turned the RRSS to high as well. After doing this I am still a little over 4" in sag. It helped with the sag a lot but still not where I should be with the 3" - 4" per the manual. I am a little over 4" and I am not suited up and no additional gear so I am concerned about the amount of sag. adding gear and as the springs fatigue, I will fear I will bottom it out. I saw in the forums that there is a .405 size spring but the ID of the spring is different. So I am wondering if anyone has put on the .405 springs and if so is there anything I need to do, anything special? I thought I read somewhere a possible spring sleeve may have to be added. Any ideas or advice would be greatly appreciated. I am just wondering if the .405 is where I should be going next and if so has anyone put these on and could help me with what if anything is needed to make them fit. Trying to achieve the 3-4" sag with a big mofo seems a bit tough.

Thanks

I did my homework on this last year and there are lots of options.

IQR springs have a 90* angle on them and essentially too much preload for a std IQ skid

the IQ skid uses a 77* spring, it is the same for the RMK skids and the shorter 121/136 skids

.347 (stock)
.359
.405

There is also a .375 spring that can be found for the Assault/RMK skids it also uses the 77* angle, not sure if anyone has put these on an IQ/pro-ride but I would think this might be the ideal spring.

I did my homework on this last year and there are lots of options.

.347 (stock)
.359
.375 (mostly found on intl models)
.405

The springs from the '05 fusion's to current will all work, so it needs to be an IQ skid not the edge skid.

Bocci, I'd say the .375's or the .405's but I had the .405's in the past on a fusion when I was 250 + and it was way too much spring. I think the .375's are the way to go for you.

The .405's were used when they first developed the IQ skid but haven't been used in a very long time as they are extreamly stiff, if you used your sled in Europe where grooming isn't really done, then I'd say 315 and no grooming might require the 405's you should give the .375's a try.
I find this very interesting. I just bought an intl model, is there an easy way to tell which ones I have without taking them off? I dont get to pick up my sled until next week so I wont be able to check until then, but I would be super happy if it came with the heavier springs!

OK I must say I am happy now. I have switched to the #405 springs, and wow what a difference. I wasn't happy with the original spacer being so small with the larger diameter of the spring. I made some new spacers and I am right where I need to be. Thanks everyone for the input especially alsled. Ton of great information.

springs

I have a pair of IQ 359's if anyone is looking.

I'm 220 geared up and ride aggressive trail.
Rode the IQ chassis with 359's using the high preload setting......got the right sag and decent performance.

The 405's are a bit wooden if you're not at least 275 IMO....

359 should have been the standard IQ spring spec....lighter riders (the minority) could have used the low preload...the average IQ rider is better off on 359's for sure.

Have to bring this one back from the archives, Going to change out my torsion springs. Since I extended my INDY to a 136, it seems to have excessive sag.
Not sure if my other INDY was like this but I really don't recall or think it was.
I got a set of bigboy springs from my Buddy, but there's excess clearance in between the spacer and inside of the torsion spring. This cant be normal?? And I see in the above post a bigger spacer was used. So can I use these springs with this much of a gap or do I absolutely need to make a thicker spacer?
These ones are from a 2006 Fusion. When I put them on the shaft, you cant get the spacer in the mounting bracket unless you put it in before you set the torsion springs into position.

And for the guys that installed the .359 springs, how much of a gap is there between the coils and spacer?

EDIT: looks like these ones I have are the 405s
