Looking for same info. I think the 2" will be too much for the 70% trails I ride, but need to decide between 1.50 Ice storm and the 1.6 cobra. Assuming gearing should be similar between those two.

Believe the 1.6 Ice is a typo...

I ran a 1.6 cobra with studs on my last Assault and have the 1.5 ice storm on my matryx assault. Very similar gearing (if not the same). Ice storm performs very well but not quite the same as traditional studs. Deep snow I might give the edge to the 1.6 cobra but thats marginal and I'm just going from memory, not a back to back test. Either is a good choice for someone trail riding in my opinion.

If you have a need for traction products, I would go with the Ice Storm. The studs for a 1.6 are pretty long and have a very high leverage point vs shorter studs. Every mile I rode I’d be afraid of pull throughs. I’m sure everyone will tell me it won’t happen. I’m also sure everyone who has put a stud through a heat exchanger has been told the same thing.

The 146 ICE Storm 1.5" worked very well for me and lot of others on MY21 SBA 146. I believe the configurator which offers the 1.5" ICE Storm, for the SBA 146 is correct. The web spec sheet and the Feb. 17th Snow Brochure show ICE Cobra 1.6". I think that is a typo.

NO ICE tracks are offered for the MY22 Switchback XC, only a 1.35 or 1.6" Cobra.

Those who ran the 2.0" Crossover this past season on the SBA 146 seem quite happy with it. Just don't try to make a lot of travel speed for very long, on a hard trail or ice.

My buddy is looking at snowchecking 2022 850 Assault 146 with the1.5 Ice Storm track. His biggest concern is insufficient cooling/overheating on hardpack trail or minimal snow conditions and always having to stop to cool down. Any feedback on whether this would be the case with this setup?

I ran the 1.6 Cobra this year with thread in IGrips on an 850 Matryx Assault and it worked great. I am about 70% on trail and 30% off trail and think this is ideal for this type of mix. Regarding engine temps it would normally run in the high teens to low 120's in snow. Saw as low as 98 in the deep stuff and as high as 150 on scraped roads. Good luck!

I am probably going to snowcheck a 650 assault with a 2" crossover or
leave the 1.3 on it only to take it off an sell it an put on a 1.75 back country
been running 2" paddle's or 1.75 back country on every sled I have owned since 2007
about 10 different sleds
I run cable scratchers 100% of the time my temps stay at 124* very rarely do I ever have to change slides
have never had any trouble an some have had 8000 miles on them an most were on WI trails or
Idaho an wyoming

Past 3 seasons on 850 assault 2 inch track never once had overhearing issue and i always keep the temp readout on my screen. The new 2 inch track ia gonna be way better than the challenger track. Its more of a snow cross track stiffer lugs and no fingers. Its gonna hook like a mofo!
