looks like it took a beating. the south was thin already. now gonna be concrete. not sure there is enough incoming to fix it. the roads are bare as well as the edges. lake effect fluff not gonna cut it unless it's substantial

you coming from the east or the west? If coming from the west side, there is little snow in the lower elevations so best spots are barns corners (either the park and ride in town or tuggers) or you can keep going and park at the Montague Inn.

The park and ride in the village of barns corners is on the corner of Rt 177 and seven by nine road (here is their web cam - northernchateau web cam). If that lot is full, you can go just past that and park at tuggers right off Rt 177. Once we get more snow, there are a few options in the Winona forest that are closer or even closer at the Pulaski groomer barn or Bucks restaurant in Williamstown

well we were preparing to go saturday , now a threat of freezing rain in the morning. sucks, we just needed 6 hours, and can't get it. upcoming weather is bad , but hopefully just solidifies the base, not square one. if i could have hit tomorrow i would have been within 100 miles of last year's total miles. still holding hope for a banger of a season. plus have to get together with rynex and the sicilian , and stronger800 for some riding

Didn’t get my 9r yet. It’s been on a truck in western NY since Thursday according the Polaris dealer tracker. I ended up bringing my doo and headed for the hill on the icy roads pulled into smith rd around 8:30.
I think a lot people stayed home thinking that it was going to be a washout the trails weren’t busy at all. And for the most part were in pretty good condition, thin in spots but not bad. Stopped at a friends camp for a while then headed over to tuggers for lunch and worked our way back to the truck on some of the less traveled trails right around 100 mile day.
Cops, Cops and more Cops I have never seen as much law enforcement in one day on the hill as I saw yesterday.

Old forge is a great place to visit, but there really isn't a ton of riding to do in old forge itself. Usually a couple days stay going different directions if there is enough snow to venture out. And as far as how strict the speed limit is, I think they are very fair, but definitely present. I have been stopped a few times. Never any tickets, but make their presence known. I honestly don't have an issue with it, a lot of low talent people riding in the area unfortunately. I buy the permit every year because a few rides we like to do we pass through the system.

When I got stopped in the plains the lady (very nice) asked if I knew how fast I was going, I said "no, I was focused on the trail" she said "good answer, but I pegged you at 75 climbing rapidly" 😂. Trails were absolutely perfect, I'm came out of a corner into a long straight and couldn't help it. Lol

well my 31 years of tug hill intuition paid off. stayed on the top , great day. thin and rocks in spots, but overall fast as hell. whiteout on rte 12 was like the 90s. even the guy hitting the guardrails next to me and almost hitting us on 12. we rode 135 miles easy. tried behind barrows, huge mud hole. back to the fast stuff for the win .
I just read this and went wow that's a long time! Then I realized I starting riding my own sled up there at 9, and I'm 42...damn...what happened? 😂. Remember staying at Towpath, the old cabins at Timberview etc...avoiding deer at sportsman's.... man, just got flooded with memories!

I can ride to arietta from my house👍 (I live in the southern Adirondacs). And oh yeah, Marty McMuffins as we called it! Haha And many memories of loading up on open trailers down at cville after day trips, covers frozen solid from salt covered roads on the way up, stretching them over the sleds, fingers frozen and couldn't wear gloves to get those damn hooks in 😂. Wouldn't trade any of it!

ah the open trailer. i got to the hill once. my cover had shredded. we have all seen them flapping. i look, no key. dug around on the shreds of cover and there it was, tangled in the threads. lucky , but back then just unplug it. irene from the arietta hotel was from newfoundland. so was my mom. i used to go in the kitchen and talk with her. brought my mom up to meet her in the summer, they grew up a fishing village apart , never met. knew some of the same people. we were almost to the hotel one time , and her son eddie was ditchbanging his way to the hotel . shit was deep. he hit a driveway , got ejected in to the powder , comes up running , jumps on and keeps going. of course we got to see him at the hotel. he helped us once when my buddy broke his ski on 8th lake and got ejected. had to go back next day , eddie was equipped

that srx is now a drag sled. the big bore came from another srx that a buddy had, hit an ice heave on the great sacandaga , landed on his tailbone from high in the sky. crippled. still a maniac though , turbo on everything. he sold the wreck to my buddy who built his up. now it has a hauck engine and a race skid. apex supercharged now.
