How are the trails in around Hudsons Bay? All directions.

We have a trip planned for northern Minnesota but one of the guys in our group is having difficulties getting doctor's permission to cross the border, i.e. no insurance, which is not an option. Group located in Winnipeg area. Hudson Bay is about half the duration as the drive to Dubreuilville. We've been to the area before and all like the trails. Rode up to Candle Lake from HB, and down to Swan Plain before crossing back into Manitoba.

I know it is a low snow year, but just investigating at this point. Your help is most appreciated.

On the weekend rode north of choiceland up to caribou was a decent ride. Stopped at a warm up shack and they were pouring shots just before getting on the summits and rmk's. Wow.

Still way to common to see losers sucking back beers at the shacks. Came across a couple families the other day. Little kids with them and all. Pisses me off

Well the doctor wouldn't authorise one of our guys to leave the country (clearly insurance issues :wall:) so looks like we are off to Saskatchewan.

We've ridden before from Swan River up to Candle Lake and back, so familiar with those areas. We don't have much experience south of there.

This is what we are thinking:
Day 1: ride the trails north of Hudson Bay (Treeline)
Day 2: ride from HB to Candle Lake (Golf Resort)
Day 3: ride the trails north of Candle Lake
Day 4: ride from Candle Lake to Melfort (Carra Valla Inn)
Day 5: ride from Melfort to Kelvington (Sportsman)
Day 6: ride from Kelvington to Hudson Bay (Treeline)

Any issues with that? We've stayed at the Treeline and the Golf Course before so we know those. We've not been to Melfort or Kelvington before.

Will be phoning lodging places later today.

Suisse guy, google SaskSnow, there is an interactive trail map on there and you can see what is happening and maybe some club contacts on there also. Hope this helps, I am in southern part so can't help with conditions those areas.

Hi ya, we've been on the SaskSnow website. Fabulous features and extremely helpful, especially the ability to plan a route and see how far it will be. Been on to some club FaceBook sites and it all looks good. Just wasn't sure about overnights in Melfort and Kelvington.

Other challenge is getting Candle Lake Golf Resort to answer their phone. Phoned them all day yesterday and nobody answered.

I would have snapped a pic of their sleds (hopefully plate) and reported them to C.Os or RCMP....

Drinking and riding machines is a no-no...

Unfortunately it seems that most don't have the same attitude about drinking and riding.
Did 150 miles north of Candle this Sat and almost every shack had alcohol flowing and kids running around. Scary sh!t when you come head on with a group of riders considering how many groups we saw drinking...
Got no problem with having a couple beers but come on, wait till the sleds are parked for the night!

Kelvington trails still good as you go north and north east. One out to Fairs Geck is sketchy once you get passed the shelter up until it links up with Linton tails. If the weather stays below freezing this week, definitely a return trip next weekend.
