So I ended up with a 2003 Xc sp 700 with a 98/99 or so no ves 600 swapped into it. It still has everything from the original sled on it, carbs ignition etc. it runs great but I am concerned about running it with the 700 ignition. The timing curves aren’t that similar but it seems to run great and pull hard. Any advice?

The 600 and 700 non ves big block ignitions weren't all that different from what i understand. Yeah, it'll probably run a little better with the 600 ignition, but i wouldn't worry its going to be an issue.

No harm in using that 700 CDI. That 600 will probably run a little stronger for it. As a side note, if you find a set of 700 cylinders and head (VES ones too), they will drop right onto that bottom end. The 600 and 700 engines shared a crank and case, so an easy swap...

Will the ves top end bolt onto the non ves bottom end?

The big block 600 and 700 bottom ends are identical. VES or non-VES makes no difference. Polaris used to sell a VES conversion kit for the 700s back in the day. Was a set of pistons, cylinders with exhaust valves and a new head, plus the exhaust components.
