Both my '99 ZR7 and current '02 ZR8cce have always worn the front of the carbides moreso than the rear portion. I believe that this is normal. The front of the carbide strikes the solid obstacles (rocks) first forcing the runner to ride up and over the obstacle. This causes the leading edge of the carbide insert to receive the brunt of the punishment and wear.
