I have an 2001 ZR600efi, 3900miles that I passed down to my boy, it seems to have lost some top end, powers up to 85, 90 and then takes awhile to see 95mph.
I have cleaned the power valves and it did not seem to matter, what should the compression be? what is the life of piston rings? I rode it pretty hard, but very little wide open.
maybe I am just use to my F7, and the ZR seems slow!?

yeah i would say 3900 miles is a good time to re-ring.if you can do the work yourself it should only cost 75-85 dollars for a set of rings.

Any ZR or ZL 600 that I have ridden, including mine, goes fast up to around 85mph and slowly climbs to 90-95mph. That is how a 600 twin is supposed to be. The little 600's are not lake racers.

thats not that many miles unless you have ame piston scoring. My 01 zr 600 efi has about 125 per cylinder and it has 6000+miles. i'm throwing in a set of pistons and rings this year before the piston skirts break off or something.
