I was wondering what cool mods anyone has done to a 2000-2002 ZR500. anything? Im extending my track from 121" to a 136" this year and was wondering if anyone has done this to a ZR500 not a 800-900. What kinf of power loss will i be looking at, and what would be my best bet for giving it more umphhhhh with out spending heaps of cash on it? :augen41: Cheers and happy sledding this year.

I had v-force 2 reeds in mine, it was very snappy after that. A good clutch kit should also be on your list.

With the pipe sensor, it is hard to do much to that machine. It will try to compensate for anything that would affect your exhaust temp. I guess you can also count out pipes.

if you dont do a whole lot of powder riding id go with a ripsaw or any other 1.25" track, instead of an extension. any way you look at it its gonna take a little bit more for that 500 to spin that longer track

i recently put a ripsaw on my 500 (last year) and am very happy with its performance both on hardpack and in moderate powder...

just a thought :dunno:

sno stuff and the MBRP are about the same they are on the louder side.

I have the spring and helix numbers for a 2002 500 with exhaust valves if you need part numbers.

Dont waste your money on reeds, definately do clutching and gear down if you ride in softer snow. I had about a 1.5" track on a 02 zr and tried stock clutching, worked fine, also tried a yellow/white primary spring, green secondary spring worked even better. On a good packed straight away with stock gears it would pull about a 100 on the speedo still.

Port the chain case....hahaha. You wont gain any HP from a clutch kit, just more power to ground. clutch kits run about 120 bucks.
