I am looking at a 2001 zl500 ESR-EFI for my wife. Its got really low miles and seems to be well taken care of. I've looked through 20 pages of posts and seen nothing concerning this sled. If anyone has any insights- good or bad- I would appreciate the input before I buy. Also, what do you know about the "solar" paint job?

gas mileage sucks

as the efi versions of the ZR and ZL were still non apvs

besides that it should be a great sled

i have owned both the first year of zl-500 1998 and the last year 2002 zl-500 apv and they both were screamers (loud) and the gas miles were not good if you pegged the throttle alot. ride is nothing to write home about these are not coupled like the others

Thanks for the replies. If I hadn't of found this sled, there is a dealership in Iron Mountain, MI with 20 or more non-current cat sleds. Prices are awesome: zr800s,600s,500s, firecats etc. I would have bought new,non-current if not for the used, babied zl500 I asked about
