A friend of mine who got tired of a.) watching my Pro-X crush his Yamaha V-Max 4 in the 1/4-mile, and b.) not being able to walk for a day after we rode trails with moguls finally broke down and bought a "new" sled at the end of the season. To my surprise, he opted to get a Polaris... an 800 Edge, to be exact.

Now he wants to know what he can expect for top speed. What have you guys seen for speeds on radar in long distances?

Thanks in advance.

I used to see about 115-118 on the speedo with that sled. But my buddy's '00 600ves was always right on my @$$. I was also studded w/96 GD's. Reality mph, idk.

Thanks. I'll pass the news on.

Since I told you that my Pro-X is quicker in the 1/4-mile, I'm sure he'd want me to point out that his V-Max 4 has better top-speed overall, it's more than ten years old, and its twin pipes sound a lot better than the single on my Pro-X.

<EDIT>

Do you have any clutching tips you'd be willing to pass on?
