I was at the dealer yesterday and I was inquiring on buying jets for my wifes sled. They were not too sure about jetting down from 360 to 340's. What do you think?

340's will be fine BUT, you need to add Q-4 (480)needle tubes to fatten up the mid-range The 5's have a hot spot in the middle if jetted down. You should see a nice increase in mileage too ^_^ Merry Christmas

I ride an 00ZL 500 also. Spoke with dealer (VT) who said I could go down to 340 no problem. I jetted down to 340 without any issues thus far (2000+ miles Vforce reeds and synthetic oil). Please explain the Q-4 (480) needle tubes in more detail. Thanks.

i too jetted down from 360 to 340 on my 98 zl-500 but watch out for cold temps below maybe zero, and allways use high test gas too, i sold it to guy who had a friend with same sledd and same year jetted same to and they both holed pto piston at 20 min. apart temps were 10 below zero i now own a 02 zl-500 and the factory stock jetting is at 330 but now it has the temp.sensor that monitors the lean midrange which these motors are noted for .

Not on an 00 ZL 500. But the process is extremely simple. Buy a manual. I have one for a 1999ZL models (carbureted). It works perfect for the 00 ZL 500.
