Got in 100 miles tonight. Love the sled

cruising at low speed with like 1/16 throttle I can get it to have ridiculous throttle hang, like literally 10 seconds of cruise control. Very odd. On trail at speed it doesn’t happen is no issue.

the punch lights will flicker if you hold the sled wide open for more than about 5 seconds so that is odd.

power feels good. Absolutely zero lag. Anyone who says that has a faulty sled or they are lying . It’s as crisp and snappy as any two stroke I’ve ridden. Maybe even more so in the mid range. We are riding two up. Im 250. Wife is 150. The seat is 20 lbs . Plus gear. So the sled has 450 lbs on it. Even so it feels stronger than a regular 850 but not by much. Top end you can tel it’s not as flat. Im sure 450 lbs is masking some performance . Hit 100 on a dirt road on speedo with minimal effort

it does seem to be waking up more and more. More than I’ve noticed on any other new sled. So that’s strange. It took about 50 miles and it keeps getting better.
Other than that not much to say from a short two up ride. Oh and I’m in love with the 7s display
No det issues at all yet. 91 non ethanol mode. Pump 93 with 10% ethanol . I did put an entire can 16oz of klotz octane booster in the first tank. Figured was a good idea

peak rpm is 8250-8300. Why is it like this for so many I’ve seen reported when peak power is 8100? Why would polaris not simply have that nailed down? Not rocket science lol

I have same hang. I am 8 hours into my break in and thinking I will just throw a tune on it when it’s done. Dealer didn’t seem to have an answer about the hanging idle so I am not going to take it in. BS I have XHD springs in mine and can trail ride hard with the wife on back and not bottom out.

I got the regular hd springs cuz I was worried the xhd would be too stiff riding solo. I have the regular hd set on high. It will bottom on any hard bump but it’s rideable . Riding much harder she complains anyways lol. It will suffice I suppose . Having a good time

hows the xhd riding solo ?

Riding solo I can put them on soft with 2 clicks from full soft, rides amazing!! I can launch much harder, it’s not as much of a wheelie machine. Cornering I have great ski pressure. Only thing is rebound, it kicks back, but all the positives out weight the bad so I will take it. If I put it on med, it will pogo over small stuff if not riding hard. If I hold it to the bar, she will mash and ride soft, reminds me of my old M10 I had in my Edge chassis. LOL

115 speedo was about it on a smooth road today . Didn’t want to hold it much longer. I guess that’s decent for 450 lbs on the sled and only 120 miles on motor still in break in. 165 studs. 129. Cobra track

8300-8350 rpm entire pull. I’m assuming that may get to 8400 range with a few more hp after break in .

that’s way past peak correct? Why would polaris clutch them so far off?

I think because in the field/real world they like it in that 8100-8200 range better. 8400 would seem too high.

Mine feels good. Nothing is ever fast enough for me unless it would pull the bars out of my hands until 100+ lol. Im sure a built up 300+ hp winder may do that but I just don’t enjoy riding them as much.

im assuming having 200 lbs on the back two up will be a pretty decent hindrance ? How much will that hurt top speed? 5 mph?

Yes. Long strait icy road. Part of Adams trail it was called according to polaris 7s display. Near grand marais. 113-114 on speedo. Flashed 115. That’s all it had . Or all I was willing to hold it being still in break in. 260 rider and 150 rider plus gear plus 30 lb two up seat. 100 miles on the sled. Near full tank

in average trail snow not hard pack it would hit about 100-102 with some effort. Close to topped. I was two up all weekend

seen one other black and blue boost a couple times

Got about 6 inches of wet snow here . Went for a 40 mile ride .

Could be a coincidence and condition related. As it’s about 10 degrees warmer here and the surfaces not as smooth/fast. But tonight the sled was pulling 8200 and holding. It’s out of break in now. 290 miles. 12 hours. On my trip this weekend it was hitting 8350 rpm while still in break in

I’ll take it but prolly just conditions idk

I bet it still gets faster even though the break in status bar is gone. Wait until about 600 miles and report back. Spent last weekend with an assault boost . Seemed like every time we started it she was stronger. And more waste gate noises!

No, I have N/A 850. My buddy has the assault boost. We were out riding together. I get him out of the hole for a couple hundred feet. I have Patrick Custom Carbon clutching with Ricks setup. Buddy has stock assault boost. Both of us have 2" tracks. Boost reels me in and pulls away eventually.

Just did a quick 50 mile loop at cut river stopped on our way to Niagara Wisconsin.

Trails were relatively hard packed but this thing is definitely running a lot hotter than when I was two up last week. Never was below 120s and got up to 150 a couple times. So that’s a bit annoying . Was 108-120 before in similar conditions. Guessing because the sled is sitting a lot higher not being two up?

I also smelled something hot like burning rubber. I think it’s the rubber fitting on the oil line slightly rubbing on the secondary. Has a small groove jb it but not that close to hitting the oil line. I hope that’s all the hot smell was.

I’m more impressed with the mid range than the top end. Has insane pull out of corners and at trail speed. It wheelies way too damn much it’s insane and is wearing me out. Can pretty much lift the skis on command at any speed below about 70 lol. I put the block on two I’m thinking I should put it back to 3 lol

Extended the flap. Dropped temps about 10 degrees on average. Most of the trails are nice and smooth but not much soft snow at all very hard and thin. Sled stays 120s 130s now.

Marked the primary clutch with a pen. Checked it when I got back. Totally gone. So that’s a good sign that I’m getting full shift correct? I’ve read some of the boosts are not

If your Boost has stock 23/37 gearing, it will be running at 110 mph at 1:1 shift ratio and 8250. That is at least 10% less than at full shift where it will be at 121 true mph at 8250 pm at full shift. Mph will increase by 1.5 more mph for each 100 engine rpms above 8250 when at 1:1.

You must be careful when using a mark placed on the fixed sheave and thinking that just because it was wiped off you reached full shift when at WOT. This is because the belt will sometimes reach the top of the primary as you let off the throttle before the 2ndy closes enough to take up the belt slack. You should let the throttle off gradually to get an accurate test.

Definitely some smart fellars around here, just have to sift through the BS at times. I had an old timer tell me the same thing patriotic just said when I was about 15. Still remember all the things he told me. 👍 A lot can be learned by opening your eyes and ears and shutting your drink sucker. 🤣

So much can be gained by just making sure everything is working like it should.

Had my visor plug get ripped out of my helmet today. Tore the wire right out. But anyways for whatever reason after that my hi beams won’t switch on and my punch lights won’t turn on now.

Pretty odd coincidence but did I maybe blow a fuse or what? Had no problems with the lights previously
