Ok the first set of pics is a 05 driven sheave (left) and the 06 (right)..
Note the tapered part of the sheave are the same size, but the 06 has a flat part down by the helix that the 05 sheave does not.. This is your extended portion, now in theory this should allow the belt to travel further down the secondary before it starts to clean the helix, thus allowing the belt to travel further up the primary.

In next pic you can see a close up of the 05 sheave. If you look close you may be able to see the heat ring the belt made from it slipping so bad.. That is one of the reasons some of the 05's lack top end.. IMO

Finally the last pic is a new 044 belt (bottom) and a used 034 belt (top).. As some have said, I think this is the bigger fix then the clutches myself. Now whether all this will work or not??????????????????

Oh you will also need a reverse threaded belt deflection adjuster for the new secondary also..

I would like to thank Dan at ODS for supplying me with all the parts (at great prices) for my project orange peal that I have embarked on this Fall.. This is only a small part of it as he knows..lol.. Also for all the help he has given, and I'm sure will be giving me in the weeks to come as I dig deeper into it. :div20:

getting the belt off is a real bitch . sooner or later all the skin will be missing off your knuckles and it won't matter so much any more . you can sneak it around there without any mods though .

Your not going to have more shift range in the seconday, your belt width will limit that. That part I do know or can explain. The rest is up to someone else, but I would guess having a bigger secondary would change the ratio and make things just better.

Dave if you were to run an 05 with the 06 sheaves and an ODS clutch kit... what size weights would you need to run in the primary to run the softer Polaris belt?
And what weights would you recomend? :dunno:
The rest of the sled is stock.

I have found that about 5 grams less than your best 034 belt setup is real close . I have 1" track and weigh 162 lbs . :div20:

If you run Dan's kit you should check with him though ........just to be sure .

i think it is great that you guys who know way more about modifying sleds than i and many others work hard and share your ideas with us.thank you! :beerchug: i must say that for myself,i'm really disappointed that any of this should be necessary in order to enjoy the full potential of OUR BASICALLY NEW SLEDS. unless cat helps us out with our 05,s mine will go up for sale. i really like the sled but this bs is unacceptable.even though mine has had 0 problems other than this clutching b/s.this issue is enough to turn me off on cat,at least until i see cat step up and do the next rite thing. ok i'm done complaining. :dunno:
