just wondering if anyone else has had problems with slide rails cracking or any other suspension parts that they broke.

After 2000 mi. my 05 shorty suspension was completely wasted. Cracked slide rails completely destroyed w arm even broke the weld where the transfer rod mounts to the bottom of the w arm. Had to rope it up to get home on the last ride last year. I had done many modifications per the guys on the totally yamaha site but it still grenaded. Yamaha was offering upgraded parts like what was on the 06 apex's but the dudes up in canada that were getting some miles on the apex's were reporting that the suspensions were failing but it was lasting longer than the 05 parts. The bottom line here is if you are heavy (200 lbs. +) and you like to ride aggressively the suspension will not hold up. Put a fast m-10 in mine this fall but have'nt been able to ride it yet. The word on the m-10 is you lose a little top end but the ride handling and especially durability are great. I am not a lake racer so i don't care if i lose some top end. All i want is a skid that does'nt fall apart when i do some aggressive trail riding. I ride with my son (rev 800 adenalin) and my brother (f-7 ext) and they don't seem to have skid problems. I still would not trade my rx-1 for any other sled. The smoothness , power and economy of the genesis engine is worth any other problems i've had to deal with. Hopes this helps.

Im 200 lbs but, I dont ride aggressively over big bumps a lot. I have just over 3000 miles and the only problem I had was the bushings.
It will bottom out to easy and I would like to do something about that without losing the soft ride. Other then that I love the sled. all the guys with AC and POLARIS have a soft ride but dont bottom out so easy. The big problem we have now is NO SNOW...
I think the '05 Monoshock RA suspension had issues with rails cracking. There were also issues with the bushings wearing out quickly and some people broke their RA cables.
Im pretty sure that Yamaha fixed all these issues underwarranty, so you might be able to get some help from your dealer or from Yamaha on getting that stuff fixed.

They have a heavy duty spring for these. Not sure what effect it has on ride though.

I know a guy that got the next sise up heavy spring, but now he said it rides a bit hard. The other 3 brands in my group ride smooth but dont bottom as bad as my 05 RX-1. I would never get rid of my YAMAHA just because of the bottoming. It's not that big of deal to me, but it would be cool if I could hit the big bumps like the other guys do, and keep the smooth ride like they can.
it wasnt a problem with the rails it was with some tunnels bending,as far as i know only the gt models had these problems , turned out it was because there was a problem with the rear skid shock, from what i heard so far yamaha will warranty the problem , most people just install big boy rear springs :div20:
That stuff would all be under warranty. Yamaha is offering a 4 year extended warranty for 500, sounds great to me.
